Felixstowe & Walton 0, Tilbury 2

DOCKERS pulled off their most notable win of the season on the Suffolk coast on Tuesday evening (3 March), toppling long time Isthmian North leaders Felixstowe on their own turf.

Felixstowe needed a win to climb back above Maldon at the pinnacle of the table but Dockers were at them from the off, keen to put Saturday's defeat at Walthamstow behind them.

Tilbury started brightly and went close on 11 minutes when Soumen Nandi's effort was well saved by Harry Wright.

The breakthrough came on 23 minutes as Dan Trendall powered home a header and Trendall doubled his tally four minutes before half-time with a clinical finish into the far corner. It was his ninth of the season.

Felixstowe were let off immediately after the restart when Tilbury broke through but curled a shot wide on 46 minutes.

From that moment, the home side dominated possession and territory but couldn't break down a stubborn away defence.

Will Jones' snap shot was well saved by Billy Lawlor before the home side were reduced to ten men on 63 minutes when Toby Stevenson picked up a second yellow and manager Stuart Ainsley also saw red in the aftermath.

Felixstowe continued to dominate despite the disadvantage in numbers, Dan Gilchrist hit the post after twisting and turning in the box but despite their strong second-half push, Felixstowe couldn't find a way through and Tilbury saw the game out for a deserved away win.

Dockers are back in action with a home clash against Cambridge City on Saturday.
