Tilbury run goes on

Tilbury 5, Ilford 0

TILBURY'S impressive surge up the Essex Senior League Premier Division table continued in emphatic fashion on Tuesday evening (18 October)  as Dockers dismissed the challenge of Ilford at the EMR Stadium.

It didn't take Tilbury long to establish a foothold in the match as Dan Trendall latched on to an Olly Spooner cross and fired a low drive over the line after five minutes.

Just seven minutes elapsed before Dockers grabbed a second when a slick passing move ended with Roman Campbell finding the net.

And on the half hour the much-travelled Alex Clark marked his latest return to the Dockers' fold with the night's third goal, beating the visiting keeper with an effort from all of 40 yards.

Tilbury were not done for the first half and, just before it came to a close, Connor Martin grabbed his second in successive matches with a finish at the far post.

Not surprisingly, the second half was an anti-climax.

There was an early fifth goal from Roman Campbell who hammered the ball home from close range seven minutes into the stanza and from then on it was cruise control as Tilbury moved into fourth position in the table.

Next up for the resurgent Dockers is an FA Vase tie at Sawbridgewirth on Saturday.
