Final day league action for Isthmian league sides as Millers bid to confirm second spot. Rocks continue to chase their league title

By Nub News Reporter 25th Apr 2026

IT'S the final day of regular season action for the borough's three Isthmian league sides – but Aveley already know they have at least one more game ahead, a play-off semi-final at Parkside.

However, it's not yet determined who they will play host to, that won't be known until the final whistles blow in today's (Saturday, 25 April) Premier Division matches. Whatever happens Millers will be at home for the play-off clash at Parkside on Wednesday (29 April).

Aveley travel to North London to take on Wingate & Finchley and still have second to fight for in a head-to-head with Billericay Town. The lowest Aveley could finish is third, which is higher than anyone might have imagined with a whole new management and playing staff at the start of the season.

A win today is likely to secure second place (and the guarantee of a home final place if they win the semi-final), as Millers are level on points with Billericay but have a four goal better goal difference.

Wingate have struggled at the wrong end of the table for much of the season but sealed their survival with a well fought 1-1 draw away at Lewes last weekend - they also clinched the Velocity Trophy at Parkside in an overtime 1-0 victory over Ramsgate a couple of weeks ago.

Last time these two sides met in November at Parkside, Wingate goals from Ryan Charles and Jayden Robinson sealed a 2-0 win for Aveley.

In the Isthmian North, Tilbury and Grays will conclude their seasons.

Dockers will be at home to Witham Town in a midtable clash and a win against the side a place above them will secure a top ten finish for Tilbury.

Grays travel to Gorleston, who are still chasing a play-off spot. Technically the Blues are not safe from slipping into the relegations zone but unless there were a remarkable series of scorelines their goal difference is set to keep them up.

In the Essex and Suffolk Border League Premier Division, East Thurrock Community FC still have a chance of taking the title with

Today the second-placed Rocks play host to Arlesford Colne Rangers at the Wyldecrest Club while leaders Thorpe Athletic travel to Cressing United.

ETC FC have three matches left and Thorpe two, with Athletic holding the title destiny in their own hands as they go into today's fixtures with a four-point lead. Arlesford sit at the foot of the table and Rocks potentially have the chance for an emphatic win to eat into the six goals better goal difference that Thorpe have over them, while Cressing are in mid table and Athletic will also be confident of a win.

However, throughout the season there have been several unexpected outcomes to matches where the one constant has been inconsistency.
