GRAYS moved though to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup after negotiating a potential banana skin tie against underdogs from the  Combined Counties League Premier Division North with summer signing Ronnie Winn collecting a hat-trick.

In the end it proved comfortable for the Isthmian North Blues – though that wasn't the case in the opening minutes when Edgware took the lead!

Just five minutes had passed when Grays were too casual on the ball in midfield and lost possession with the home side breaking quickly and catching Grays on the backfoot as Caoilan Mcgettigan was on hand to tap the ball past Danny Sambridge.

The lead lasted just two minutes as Grays responded positively and created a breakaway of their own and Winn was on hand to finish.

Grays began to dominate the game and went close with an effort that hit the woodwork before Callum Watts grabbed their second goal on the half hour with a shot from distance.

Sambridge then did well to keep out a shot from Samir Sedaoui before Grays extended the lead six minutes before the break when Winn collected his second goal with a half volley from the edge of the box.

There was an early scare for Grays in the second half when an effort went just past Sambnridge's post but the game was sealed on 54 minutes when Winn completed his hat-trick with another volley as the home defence gave him time and space.
