MANAGERLESS Grays produced a result for fans to savour on Wednesday night (21 October), ending a run of seven successive league defeats with victory at Chadfields against mid-table 'Stow - and avenging an earlier season defeat in the corresponding Isthmian North fixture.
Following the midweek departure of manager Mitch Hahn and his assistant Ash Miller a combination of Lewis Clark, Sam Walker, Nick Strizovic and Mitch Baldock put a team together for the match and the players did not let them down.
Grays looked a revived side and went ahead on six minutes through Sam Wade who capitalised on an opportunity following a free kick.
Gabriel Chapps made it two 18 minutes later with an effort that slipped through the hands of keeper Luke Mewitt.
Stow got one back five minutes before the break when Tristan Goodridge's free kick was punched by keeper Ayaz Kazi into the path of Elijah Grant who headed it home.
Chapps made it three for the home side ten minutes into the second half when he capitalised on a loose ball in the box.
And Grays held on with some comfort from that point and the result sets them up in good heart for Saturday's trip to Lowestoft, who sit below them in the drop zone.
