Hemel Hempstead 3, Aveley 4

MILLERS came from two goals down to record a fine National League South away win at Hemel on Good Friday and they are back in contention for a play-off place.

Their hero was Charlee Hughes who completed a hat-trick with the match-winning goal on 73 minutes.

The hosts took the lead with a goal touched home by Michael Folivi on three minutes after a goalmnouth scramble and added a second from Chris Smith with a diving header 14 minutes later.

Hughes got Aveley back in in thanks to a fortuitous deflection in the the closing momnents of the first half and, after closing down a defender in the opening second of the second half his efforts were rewarded handsomely as he ended up backheeling the ball into the net amid a panicked home defence.

On the hour Eduino Vaz's long range effort put Millers in front though Hemel responded with an equaloser from Joshua Williams eight minutes later when he sidefooted home from inside the box.

The match was decided on 73 minutes when Hughes wrapped things up with a close range, near post finish.

Though they have played a couple of matches more than their immediate rivals, Millers still have an opportunity to mark their first season with a tilt at a third successive promotion and they return to league action on Monday at home to Havant and Waterlooville.
