THREE borough sides were in friendly action yesterday (Saturday, 23 July).
East Thurrock United made the short trip over the Thames to face Corinthian FC from the Isthmian South East division and after a great start with two goals from Olly Miles, one a powerful header, Rocks were in the driving seat at half time.
However, the hosts improved after the break and eventually things ended all square at 2-2 thanks to an equaliser laste in added time.
The Rocks will be back in action on Tuesday evening when Isthmian Premier Hornchurch, who include a number of former East Thurrock players in their ranks, will be visitors to Rookery Hill. Admission is £5, with under 16s and OAPs free.
There was also a late goal when Grays Athletic travelled to play Buckhurst Hill on Saturday. Aron Gordon gave the Blues the lead on 13 minutes.
There were a number of substitutions as the match progressed but Buckhurst got back on level terms on 77 minutes through Lou Winter.
But the winner for Grays came on the stroke of full time from Sam Bantick.
Tilbury played host to Hutton but the result has been kept under wraps!
Aveley enjoyed an open training morning at Parkside.
