Aveley 3, Lewes 0
AVELEY returned to Isthmian Premier action for the first time in a month following their cup adventures, while Lewes were eager to end their eight-game winless streak across all competitions.
In the opening stages, the hosts appeared to dominate, but Lewes posed a significant threat on the counter-attack. Crucial recovery tackles from Harry Critchley and Ryan Henshaw thwarted the visitors at key moments.
At the 15-minute mark, Aveley took the lead. A cross into the Lewes penalty area was met by the head of the Aveley captain. Initially, it seemed the ball had been cleared, but the assistant referee confirmed it had crossed the goal line.
Forward Chris Harris nearly extended Aveley's advantage. His goal-bound shot was expertly blocked by Jack Burchell.
The second half commenced with a powerful shot directly from kick-off as Lewes sought an immediate equaliser. Aveley goalkeeper Joe Wright was vigilant, tipping the ball over the crossbar.
With ten minutes remaining, Aveley doubled their lead. Tobi Tinubu fought his way past the Lewes defenders and passed the ball to Ryan Charles, who unleashed a powerful shot into the net.
Aveley secured their victory deep into stoppage time. Suley Zuhdu lofted the ball over the back line, allowing Tobi Tinubu to score his first goal since joining Aveley in the summer by skilfully lobbing the keeper with his left foot.

Millers are back in cup action on Tuesday (21 October) when they travel to colchester Unitd in the BBC Essex Senior Cup.
