Aveley 3, Hashtag United 1
MILLERS grabbed the win that effectively confirms their Isthmian Premier play-off place - mathematics and a dramatic set of circumstances not withstanding - in Monday's Parkside clash against their soon-to-be departing tenants.
Hashtag, who will play at Redbridge's ground next season, have asked to be relegated because of their financial position but sit in the drop zone anyway.
But they still have pride to play for and made a good start on Monday (6 April), weathering early Aveley pressure with former Miller Jason Ring clearing the ball off the line to deny George Saunders, and then taking the lead when Ellis Devereux tapped in at the far post just before the half hour.
However, Aveley were level within five minutes when Ollie Peters converted from the penalty spot after Jesse Nwabueze was brought down by Ring inside the box.
In added time at the end of the half Aveley got their noses in from when Nwabueze headed home from close range.
The game was put to be on 73 minutes when Nwabueze produced a magnificent goal, picking the ball up when 25 yards out and smashing a shot into the top corner.
Next weekend Aveley are on the road and travel to St Albans City hoping to secure a win that should guarantee them a home semi-final in the first round of play-off matches.
