JUST Grays Athletic, of the four borough sides in action today (Saturday, 3 December) managed a win – with Aveley, East Thurrock and Tilbury all drawing.

Aveley went close to a win but were denied by a last gasp equaliser – after having two men sent off. See full report via this link.

Grays' 1-0 win was a nondescript, but nevertheless welcome one at Parkside against Bury Town.

It ended a recent run of poor form but it's not a match that will live long in the memory.

The points were earned by full back Courtney Homans' goal after 25 minutes.

Fellow Isthmian North side East Thurrock United were hopeful of a win from the short trip to Basildon United but they had to settle for a point, coming from behind.

Shane temple put the hosts ahead after 66 minutes, but Sam Carter rescued a point with his 75th minute goal and it ended 1-1.

Which was also the score as two goals in two minutes meant Tilbury and Wroxham could not be separated at Chadfields.

Charlie Morris put the Dockers ahead on 62 minutes, but the cheers of home fans had barely died down when Shaun Taylor levelled for the visitors and Tilbury were unable to bounce back.
