A SECOND half goal from Tommy Barnacles on Saturday (1 November) was enough to earn East Thurrock a tenth Essex and Suffolk Border League Premier Divsion win that keeps them four poiunts clear at the top of the table.

The match was notable for outfielder Ross Barnes going in goal due to unavailability of regualr keeper Tommy Bruley, the second time he has done so and he is yet to concede.

After an even first half at Colchester, during which Harry Prince went nearest to scoring for the visitors, Rocks were the dominant force after the break but they were a little guilty of profligacy - and were also denied by several fine saves.

However, the breakthrough came on 54 minutes when Kieron Miles flicked a pass through from the outside of his boot to Barnacles who fired home with some aplomb.

Rocks are next in action with a home league match against AFC Pegasus Colchester on Saturday, 15 November.
