Tilbury waste little time in appointing new management duo

JUST 24 hours after annoucing the pending departure of Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace by 'mutual consent', Tilbury FC have named their new management pairing.

George Christou and Jack Toghli will take over as first team managers as first-team managers.

The duo join the club following a spell with Basildon United in the Essex Senior League, but they are better known for their time at Redbridge where their tenure from September 2020 was extremely successful.

The managers delivered back-to-back Peter Butcher Trophies, promotion to step 4, and claimed the Essex Senior Cup in 2024 as they defeated Colchester United on penalties in the final. In the same season, they enjoyed another cup run, taking Redbridge to the Second Round Proper of the FA Trophy, which helped the club win the Isthmian League Team of the Season 2023/24.

Previously they worked together on the coaching staff at Aveley and help to build a really successful academy programme. In their first season with Millers, they won the Essex Senior Reserve League title and cup double.

The appointment at Chadfields will be the duo's third club in the calendar year. After leaving Redbridge in 2024, in February they joined Brightlingsea Regent as assistant manager and coach.

In May they were appointed at Basildon United following the Bees' relegation to the Essex Senior League. However, things did not work out well and the club and managers parted company in September with United having won just one match in all competitive fixtures.

Their first match in charge of Tilbury will be on Saturday, 25 October, when Dockers play host to Hadley in the FA Trophy First Round Proper.
