Gravesend 38, Thurrock 26
THURROCK'S quest for a first London and South East Regional 2 South East win of the season goes on after today's (Saturday, 4 January) defeat.
Thurrock found themselves seven points down after nine minutes but rallied to level the scores with an unconverted try from Henry Bird and then they took the lead when Harry Reynolds crossed the line and James Fergus converted.
Gravesend responded with a converted try of their own but Thurrock kept hopes high with a try from Rick Percival, again converted by Fergus and they held a narrow lead at half time.
A yellow card for captain Kodie Holloway eight minutes into the second half proved fateful for Tees and Gravesend took advantage with two tries before Fergus restored visitors' hopes with a try which he converted,
However, Gravesend crossed again and when Nial Clifford saw yellow for Thurrock it opened the door for Gravesend to score again and complete a victory.
Thurrock will hope for better luck with both women's teams in action on Sunday,
The T-Birds firsts team travel to play Sutton & Epsom and the seconds also hit the road to play top of the league Thamesians.
