Thurrock T-Birds 35, Sale 10

THERE were celebrations aplenty at Oakfield on Sunday when T-Birds came from behind to triumph in their National Cup semi-Final against Sale.

The win sets up a double date for the borough club at Twickenham on Sunday, 12 May when the firsts will follow an appearance by the club's second team in the Papa John's Cup final.

Sale, with a strong wind at their backs, made a great start and their fleet-footed backs stretched the home defence, leading to an early try, which was converted.

But the strength of Thurrock's pack saw them begin to dominate and force Sale onto the back foot and two converted tries close to the posts saw them ahead and they never looked back.
