THIS weekend Thurrock T-Birds kick off their 2023/24 Championship South campaign against London Irish Ladies at home at Oakfield (Long Lane).

Last years result saw the T-Birds come out as winners 30-17 with tries from Hannah Thornhill, Iona McCusker, Nicole Smith and Srah Dyche (2).

The T-birds have been busy growing the squad and now have two teams, the seconds team play away at Westcliff, also on Sunday. The T-Chicks (girls under 13 to under 18) squads are also growing too.

Dean White (Director of Rugby) said "We welcome our friends London Irish to Oakfield, who made a good account of themselves last season.

"This fixture has always been a challenge and should be a great example of women's rugby today. In the past, this fixture has produced fantastic games and we are expecting the same the weeked."
