Gators have become synonymous with success.
Gators have become synonymous with success.

YOUNGSTERS and coaching staff of a borough-based basketball team are turning to the community for help and support to go even further in the sport.

The Gators basketball programme, a fast-growing and inclusive youth sports initiative based at The Gateway Academy in Tilbury has created a vibrant, accessible space for children and young people from all backgrounds to thrive through basketball.

Over the past 18 months its teams have already achieved competitive success, being JrNBA champions and finalists (U12–U14) and Essex Cup finalists (U13–U16).

They also took part in their first ever National Schools Competition. Thirteen young people have also trained as referees and table officials.

Three players have been selected for the UK National Pathway (Top 50).

The coming months will see a Spanish basketball camp and the launch of European travel teams

The programme's Karolina Daujotas says: "To continue this momentum, we're seeking sponsorship and funding to support team uniforms and equipment as well as travel to regional and national tournaments.

"That support will help us keep the programme affordable and accessible for all families — ensuring no child is left behind due to financial barriers. We'd love to explore how we can partner with you.

"Sponsorship benefits include Logo placement on kits and banners, recognition on social media and at events, community engagement opportunities and positive brand association with youth development.

"In anticipation we'd like to thank local organisations and businesses for considering this opportunity to make a real difference in young lives."

Karolina can be contacted by email at [email protected] or by calling 07824466554.
