THURROCK residents are reminded of the borough's annual tribute and remembrance of victoms of genocide, which this year will mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and 30 years since the genocide in Bosnia.

International Holocaust Memorial Day will take place on Tuesday, 27 January.

A memorial service will take place at the Herbert E. Brooks Memorial Rest Garden, Grays, RM17 6RU, starting at 11am.

The UK Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) Ceremony is the focal point of HMD in the UK and brings together the civic, faith and political leadership of the country, alongside survivors of the Holocaust and more recent genocides.
