Purfleet Heritage & Military Centre will host a fun day on Sunday, 16 August from 10am to 5pm.
The event starts with a showing of the film Burma Boy and outside there will be a colourful Gurkha Festival, with the Thurrock Nepalese Gurkha Community. Their dancers will give a vibrant start to proceedings.
At 11am there will be an unveiling of memorabilia from a Polish Battle of Britain pilot, Flying Officer Gruzka.
From 1pm there will be stocks and sponges. If there are any volunteers who would like to get a soaking on a hot day let us know. The more the merrier.
At 1:30pm there will be a showing of War Horse, the film. Sit and watch in the comfort of 18th century air conditioning.
There will be a field gun challenge on the green around this time.
At 2pm Southern Armour group will be operating their radio controled model tanks.
At 2:30 on the green their will be a kabaddi match, something different organised by SSLE Kabaddi Club. It is a very competative contact sport game that is very popular in South East Asia.
Between 3 and 5pm there will be more entertainment; African drums played by Efua Sey Cultural Academy. Geri Castle and the U3A Thurrock Choir will sing songs. Other entertainment will be provided by the Three Amigos.
Food and drink will be available including a Romanian Bar, ALL4BAR with a new Dracula cocktail celebrating our link with Dracula. Ice creams and refreshments will be available from the NAAFI tea bar in the centre.

There will stalls on the green. It will be a day for all the family.
