UNTIL Saturday 28th January

The flood in 1953.

THE seventieth anniversary of the disastrous flood in Tilbury will be marked by a walk and talk later this month.

It will take place on Saturday, 28 January, leaving at 10.30am from the TRAAC centre on Ferry Road (adjacent to the ferry landing).

The walk along the sea wall in Tilbury will include a visit to Tilbury Fort.

The floods happened on 31 January 1953 and the walk, which is about two miles, will take participants to Bill Meroy Creek where the river overflowed across the marshes into Tilbury town.

To book a place, email Annie ([email protected]) from the Tilbury Riverside Project or call 07900 675959. There is no charge but donations will be gratefully accepted for the walk.
