On Saturday the 16th September, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. High House Community Group and Thurrock Arts Council will play hosts to a variety of local Groups to present an entertaining programme of Creative and Performance Arts as part of National Heritage Open Days.
Local Heritage and Creative Arts Organisations will be working together to make this a truly memorable and fun day for families and other visitors. There will be craft and hobby stalls and performance artists to inform and entertain based in all three of the Barns.
The gardens and grounds will also host a variety of displays to let visitors know what creative activities are available locally. There will be two brass bands; the Writers' Circle, and Theatre Societies with short plays and musical numbers. Artists, the Camera Club, a Marquetry Group, Lacemakers and two choirs.
Two guests from North Ockendon will be demonstrating Handbell Ringing. The High House Community Group will be on hand to recount the history of the Manor, Farm and Buildings and to provide a Kiddies' Corner with some games and toys.
The Arts Society will be holding a very easy painting competition for the children. A recent participant has joined from Thurrock Music Services and will be providing some sessions in the music hub for hopeful young DJs. A very popular organisation who joined us at last year's event will be with us again - Thurrock Acorns Amateur Radio Club who will be demonstrating the magic of Morse Code and allowing visitors to "have a go"!
The Coach House Cafe will be open for drinks and snacks. Entry to the event is free and so is parking. The best place for entrance to the site is from London Road into Vellacott Close for parking in the public car park with overflow parking on the front meadow. Other site parking next to the Backstage Centre is reserved for event participants.
There is a disabled toilet on site and toilets in both the Cafe and the Barns. There are a few disabled parking spaces at the top of the drive (Vellacott Close).
