A BOROUGH sports club's 138 year heritage will be celebrated at a special event.

Stanford-le-Hope Cricket Club, which is currently celebrating 100 years at its current home in the town, has records going back to its roots.

Club stalwart Andy Robinson says: "Have you, your dad, your grandad, your brother, your sister, your uncle—or even your best mate—ever played for Stanford-le-Hope Cricket Club? Or are you just a full-on cricket badger who lives for the game and the stats?

"We're hosting a very special Memorabilia Evening on Friday, 9th May at the club's clubhouse, and this one's extra special—because it marks exactly 100 years since the very first game of cricket was played at Stanford Recreation Ground.

"Whether you played, supported, scored, umpired—or just love the game—we'd love to see you there to celebrate a century at the Rec!"

Available on the evening will be the complete club records from 1887 to the present day—that's 138 years of club history ready to explore. Visitors will be able to flick through the scorebooks, relive the golden moments, and maybe even settle a few age-old debates with cold, hard stats!

The event will take place on Friday, 9 May from 7pm at Stanford-le-Hope Cricket Clubhouse, which is accessed from Grove Road, SS17 0ED.

And that's not all...

To celebrate the 100-year celebrations, the club has been honoured to be hosting a special anniversary fixture against the world-famous MCC on Thursday, 29 May
