The Essex Wildlife Trust Thameside Nature Discovery Centre is is offering another chance to celebrate it's wonderful nature reserve and to take part in runs, get great medals and purchase last years anniversary tees on Sunday 26th May 2024. This will raise funds for EWT and this years charity supported by Phoenix Striders (Basildon Emergency Night Shelter)
Together with our partners Phoenix Striders Walking and Running Club (www.phoenixstriders.org.uk), we Essex Wildlife Trust, are staging 3 events around the beautiful park, including the newly acquired lake to allow all the participants to have a glimpse of the scenery around the reserve.
Starting at 10am, the 10k will take in a run to the lake, 2 laps of the lake and then returning on a slightly different route giving great views of the Thames estuary (usually with the wind at your back). All entrants will receive a bespoke medal and a chance to purchase our 2023 Anniversary event t-shirt (£2). Trophies will be given to 1st male and female overall and 1st male and female veteran (aged 40+) minimum age 16.
Starting at 10:10am, the 5k will run out to the edge of the lake, make a small loop and then return on the same route as the 10k. All entrants will receive a bespoke medal and the chance to purchase our 2023 Anniversary event t-shirt (£2). Trophies will be awarded to the 1st male and female and 1st male and female U16 (minimum age 12)
The Tinies Toddle at 11.30am is 2 loops of the track round the centre which can be viewed from the roof and is about 1k in distance. This is an untimed fun event for all the family to accompany their tinies. All the Tinies taking part will receive a brightly coloured engraved event medal. There will also be entries on the day for the Tinies Toddle.
There are no changing facilties at the Centre, but there are toilets inside.
The Centre sells a range of Essex Wildlife Trust gifts and momentos, hot and cold drinks, hot and cold snacks, ice creams and sweets.
Confirmation of entry and full details of parking and transport will be sent to you by email (if supplied) to the email address provided on the entry form.
Race numbers are to be collected on the day from the Discovery Centre, so please arrive early to collect your number and t-shirt as the overflow car park is a distance from the Centre. A free shuttle bus will be availble until the start of the race.
Prizes will be presented on the day as soon as possible after the race has finished and the results compiled.
