Heritage Day on the buses

Thurrock

UNTIL Saturday 4th December

VINTAGE buses will be taking to the roads of Thurrock next month when the borough-based Ensign Bus Company once again sends out its fleet of restored vehicles during its annual heritage day.

It will take place on Saturday, 4 December and will be the first running day since the Covid pandemic broke.

Ensign's operational compliance manager Mark Turner-Monk says: "One day a year we get the opportunity to show off our stunning fleet of vintage vehicles where the general public to reminisce the feel of yesteryear.

"Ensignbus is committed to keeping these vintage vehicles on the road.

"Our restorations department return them to fully road worthy condition from various states of decay, in some cases, we have restored vehicles that have been homes for chickens!

"Once fully restored, they join our heritage fleet. These vehicles once again grace our roads carrying passengers."

This year the buses will run on four special routes:

Route X21: Upminster - Brentwood

Route X54: Lakeside - Purfleet Heritage & Military Centre - RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre

Route X55: Upminster - Lakeside - Bluewater - Gravesend

Route X81: Shenfield - Brentwood - Lakeside - Gray's - Tilbury

Vintage buses will run every 30 minutes on all running day routes! More details and a timetable can be found via this link.
