DO you or someone you know receive Healthy Start Vouchers?
Co-op stores have started topping up the value of Healthy Start vouchers by an extra £1.00. The vouchers will still have £3.10 printed on them but once they have been scanned at the till, customers will receive £4.10 off the transaction instead.

THE Co-op's Socketts Heath store has been working with Thurrock Foodbank and today (Sunday, 29 November) the store's Member Pioneer Claire Mason was on hand to donate carrier bags to Sandra Ray on behalf of this worthwhile cause.

THE annual general meeting of Thurrock and Brentwood Mind will take place next month in a virtual format.
It will take place on Wednesday, 9 December at 10am and will be hosted on the Zoom platform.

SHOPPERS at a Thurrock store have been supporting the Mind charity today (Thursday, 3 September).
Thurrock Mind, based at Bridge Road, Grays, works tirelessly to develop and deliver high quality services with, and for, people with a mental health problem living in the borough.

A SHOPPER at a Grays convenience store had a surprise this week when she popped in and found she was the recipient of a hamper of luxury items.
Thurrock Nub News editor Neil Speight was the winner recently of a draw held at the Socketts Heath Co-op in aid of one of its chosen good causes, Thurrock Mind, and immediately donated the prize back to the store's Member Pioneer Claire Mason.

A BUSY year shows little sign of slowing down for one of Thurrock's largely unsung heroic services.
The South Essex Wildlife Hospital at Orsett is a rescue, rehabilitation and public advice charity that looks after wild animals throughout the year.

A GROUP of friends in a local community group is celebrating a successful fight against cancer by one of them by raising funds for a leading charity during September.
Members of the Friends of Hardie Park in Stanford-le-Hope, which has enjoyed the support and fundraising help from two of the town's local Co-op stores, have set a fundraising target of £2,500 for Bowel Cancer UK.

MORE than 70 lonely residents in the borough who have missed out on regular social meetings organised by the charity Re-engage Thurrock have been treated to a luxury hamper so they know they are not forgotten.
Re-engage organised regular tea parties for groups of borough residents as a way of breaking the cycle of isolation, but because of the coronavirus pandemic this has not been possible.
