Assembly Operative - Aerospace Manufacturing
We are recruiting for an experienced Assembly Operative to join a busy and growing aerospace manufacturing team in Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys precision work and takes pride in producing high-quality components to exact specifications.
Working as part of a dedicated production team, you will be responsible for assembling aircraft components to customer-defined standards, ensuring quality, safety, and delivery targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble aircraft components in line with engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Carry out assembly of new parts using solid rivets, hand tools and air riveting equipment.
- Use drills, rivet presses, rivet guns and other specialist assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform visual inspections of completed assemblies to ensure quality standards are met.
- Measure and check components using Verniers and other specialist measuring equipment.
- Adjust and prepare sheet metal parts ready for assembly.
- Apply sealants where required.
- Work with a variety of materials and surface finishes.
- Support continuous improvement activities across production processes.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and comply with all health and safety requirements.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous assembly experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience using solid rivets and air riveting equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience using Vernier calipers and precision measuring tools.
- Knowledge of sheet metal adjustment and assembly techniques.
- Current experience using air tools such as drills, rivet presses and rivet guns.
- Experience applying sealants in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using a variety of hand tools.
Desirable
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Background in precision engineering environments.
- Knowledge of working with multiple aerospace materials and finishes.
