Away days ahead for borough's FA Cup sides

ALL three borough sides who retain an interest in the FA Cup were drawn away in today's first qualifying round draw.

Tilbury will have to wait until tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 23 August) to know their opponents.

The Dockers have been against either Ashford Town (Middlesex) of the Isthmian League South Central Division or Knaphill from the Combined Counties League Premier Division South who replay tomorrow at Knaphill after drawing 1-1 on Saturday.

Aveley, who like Tilbury won on Saturday, in the preliminary round and pocketed £1,125, will make the short trip to Ilford. The Millers were possibly underdogs in the last round when they toppled Maldon & Tiptree but will be very much favourites to oust their Essex Senior League hosts who play at the Cricklefield Stadium.

Isthmian Premier East Thurrock United enter the competition at this stage and on paper are higher ranked than their hosts Cambridge City from the Northern Premier League Midlands Division, where they have lost both their matches this season to date. However, they can expect a tough match at Histon FC's Glassworld Stadium in Impington against the Lilywhites who won away in the last round, 5-1 at Daventry.

First qualifying round ties are scheduled for 3 to 5 September. The winners receive £2,250 from the prize fund and the losers get £750.
