c2c service disruption after incident at Purfleet station

By Neil Speight 3rd Sep 2020

TRAIN services across the whole c2c Network were disrupted by a police investigation at Purfleet rail station this evening.

The station was closed around 6pm and Essex police officers were in attendance alongside British Transport Police who took a lead on the incident. Officers on the scene were seen carrying out a forensic search.

As yet the force has given no statement about the incident, but by 10pm c2c announced that their usual services had been restored.

The incident came on the day that British Transport Police took to the c22 line and mounted a series of foot patrols around the line's services.

A police statement said the exercise was aimed at 'sharing resources and local intelligence with the aim of reassuring local communities, passengers and staff concerned about current crime hot spots'.
