WHILE Covid lockdown has put paid to many fundraising efforts at Christmas a South Ockendon family are hoping a Just Giving page will help them raise cash for Havens Hospice.

Kelly Hirst and her family on Eden Green just off Afton Drive in South Ockendon have mounted a display of inflatables and Christmas lights and invited passers-by to donate to the hospices, but that has really been curtailed because of the restrictions.

However, they have created a Just Giving page and hope that anyone who want to help the hospices will make a donation there.

Lydia Plews, Havens Hospices' Senior Business Development Officer, said: "2020 has been a really difficult time for everyone and our supporters' Christmas lights displays have definitely been putting a smile on everyone's faces – they have gone to so much effort to bring joy to their local communities and raise money for our essential hospice care.

"Thank you to everyone this year who has decorated their homes in festive lights in aid of Havens Hospices – our hospice care can only exist because of the support and generosity from the community."
