Matt's the way to do it: Cycle hub has an expert on hand
THE Hardie Cycle Hub, Old Spokes Home, based in Hardie Park, Stanford-le-Hope has been inundated with requests for bikes, servicing and repairs during lockdown.
The success of the hub and community support has allowed the project to recruit a part-time Cycle Hub Manager.
Matt Adams, Chair of Trustees at Hardie Park, said: 'We are delighted to announce that local cycle enthusiast and cycle campaigner Matt Hill has joined us as our new Cycle Hub Manager.
"The trustees are really excited by the potential growth of the cycle hub and are confident that Matt's knowledge and expertise will help us take this fantastic initiative to the next level.
"The public have been generous with their donations of bikes to date, allowing the project to turnaround donated cycles and resell to the community at low cost. If you have bikes you no longer need in the shed, the hub will gratefully accept your donation and in most cases can collect if local.
"The project can also offer re-furbs, servicing, cycling advice and servicing on site opening on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. (you may be lucky enough to find the doors open at other times too if you are passing)."
For anyone with an interest in bikes or cycling and would like to volunteer at the hub you can register interest on the website or pop down for a chat.
