MOTORISTS travelling on the A13 eastbound just past the Five Bells junction at Fobbing have been warned they face delays, possibly for up to two weeks, after a carriageway collapse today (Friday, 29 October).

Essex County Council have announced that an emergency lane closure will be implemented tonight due to a collapsed slab on the carriageway.

A statement says: "We are expecting the closure to be in place at around 9pm and will remain in situ until permanent repair is completed.

"We are expecting the closure to be in place for at least a week and potentially two, however we are waiting confirmation exactly when the repairs can be carried out."

The closure has the potential to cause congestion stretching back into Thurrock and could clash with closures and congestion associated with Thurrock Council's A13 widening works.
