Police name 89-year-old who died in Grays. 60-year-old woman is charged with murder

POLICE have released the name of the 89-year-old woman who died in an incident at a Grays home earlier this week.

Winfred Grover died at the property in Lenmore Avenue on Monday.

A police statement said: "We were called to reports Winfred was unresponsive at an address in Lenmore Avenue on Monday (21 June) and, sadly, she was later pronounced dead.

"Cheryl Banks, 60, of Lemore Avenue, Grays, was arrested and has been charged with murder.

"She appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Friday 25 June. She was remanded in custody and will reappear at the same court on Friday, 10 September for a pre-trial preparation hearing.
