Residents warned to shut windows as crews tackled late night lorry fire

RESIDENTS in the Sandy Lane area of Aveley were advised to shut all windows and doors at their homes late last night (Monday, 26 October) as firefighters dealt with a lorry blaze.

The alert was raised just before midnight and two crews from Grays, and teams from Orsett and Corringham and a London brigade crew from Wennington tackled the blaze in a refrigerated lorry at the junction of Sandy Lane and the A1306 at Wennington.
