Sharp rise in coronavirus cases in Thurrock

THURROCK'S confirmed cases of coronavirus rose by its largest amount in a single day according to the latest figures published by Public Health England.

The tally of confirmed cases has risen by 13 to 54.

The local figure mirrored a national rise with numbers of confirmed cases now increasing rapidly - the number of cases has increased by more than 3,000 since Monday, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.

Tuesday's figures showed there are 25,150 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and at least 1,789 people, who have tested positive for the virus, have died - an increase of 381 in one day.
