Facebook post lands man in the dock - plus other borough cases

POSTING items on Facebook landed an East Tilbury man in court,
Basildon magistrates heard how James Tyler, 29, of Queen Mary Avenue, East Tilbury, had breached a family court order not to molest Rosie Sarah Lyon in any way.He did so by publishing posts on Facebook for which he has been given a community service order to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
A restraining order has also been made so he should not contact his victim in any way or post any material about her on digital media or encourage anyone else to do so. A 34-YEAR-old Chafford Hundred resident will face trial on 28 May after pleading not guilty to charges of assaulting and obstructing a police officer in an incident in Grays on 1 March.Cesar Costa-Pereira, of Catherine Close, was remanded on bail on condition he does not contact the officer, Inspector Martin Allen, or a number of named witnesses. He will appear before Southend Magistrates' Court for trial.
Another man involved in the same incident, Bill Franquelin Monteiro, 26, a Portuguese of no fixed abode has also pleaded not guilty to similar charges and also to a charge of assault with intent to resist or prevent the lawful apprehension of another for an offence. DARREN Anthony May, 46, of Avon Green, South Ockendon, admitted four charges of stealing groceries valued at £120 from the local Co-op and one of stealing a £1 milkshake from a nearby Tesco store.He also admitted two charges of drug possession.
May was ordered to pay £120 for the thefts and was fined £80 for the drug possession. There was no order for costs or a surcharge because of his lack of means. EMMA Louise Oliver, 21, of Gooderham House, Chadwell St Mary, admitted assaulting Michael Lawrence.She also admitted four charges of stealing items from Boots, Holland & Barrett and Wilko in Grays. The offences put her in breach of a previous conditional discharge put in place after she stole clothing valued at £130 from House of Fraser at lakeside.
Oliver was ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid community work and undertake a rehabilitation activity.She must pay £50 compensation for the assault and costs and surcharges totalling £195.
DARREN Stuart Burns, 52, of Lisle Place, Grays, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath after being suspected of drink driving and driving without insurance or a valid licence.
He was fined £120 and had to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £117 and was banned from driving for 12 months. MICHAEL Taylor, 38, of Copper Beech Road, South Ockendon, admitted possession of cannabis and was ordered to carry out £150 hours of unpaid community service and to pay a victim surcharge and costs totalling £170. DAMIEN Alexander Lynch, 43, of no fixed abode, was released on conditional bail after pleading not guilty to assaulting Maria Carter-Leay in South Ockendon. He will be tried at Southend Magistrates' Court on 25 June.In the interim he must not contact Ms Carter-Leay or enter Hanford Road, Aveley.
AFTER he admitted a series of offences involving the supply of drugs a Grays man has been referred to Basildon Crown Court because it has higher powers of sentencing.
Emmanuel Onafuye, 20, of Moses Bank, Meesons Lane, admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply.He also faces charges of obstructing a police constable, making false representations in an application to gain a lower driving insurance premium and being in possession of £1,910 in cash which was criminal property.
LEE James Gardner, 40, of Champion Close, Stanford-le-Hope, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of assaulting Nechelle Walker. He will face trial at Southend Magistrates' Court on 21 May.
IAN Robert Henderson, 41, of Jasmine Dene, Tilbury, admitted sending an indecent text message of an offensive nature and assaulting Urszula Faron.
He was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid community service work A MAN who ignored the terms of a community order made after he was found guilty of assault and possession of drugs triggered additional punishment when he failed to attend unpaid community work.Ricky Anthony Acott, 43, of Canberra Square Tilbury was fined £150. The community service order was revoked.
A GRAYS man has been jailed after he breached a restraining order and assaulted a woman.
Marc Board, 40, of Southend Road, admitted Danielle Sadler, an offence which led to him being jailed for 18 weeks. He has a history of assaulting the same victim. A MAN from South Ockendon who was already on bail after being charged with carrying an offensive weapon, a kitchen knife, committed the same offence and found himself before Basildon Magistrates Court.Because of the nature of the offences the trial of Dean Peck, 33, of Araglen Avenue, was sent to Crown Court.
SEAN Matthew Phillips, 49, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing a bottle of wine and two wraps from Tesco's store in Stanford-le-Hope. He was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £21.
He also admitted breaching a supervision order imposed following his release from prison for a previous offence and was fined £10. NATHAN Dymond, 19, of Foxglove Road, South Ockendon, admitted causing damage to furniture, property and walls belonging to Claire Dymond and will be sentenced at Basildon Magistrates' Court on 29 April.In the meantime he must not enter Foxglove Road or contact his victim.
JAMES Prenctice, 38, of King Edward Drive, Grays, admitted charges of theft, stealing design label clothes on five occasions from House of Fraser at Lakeside. He also admitted carrying a bad designed to assist with the thefts, which amounted to £2,019 worth of items.
He was given 100 hours of unpaid community service and ordered to pay £1,786 in compensation.
