ANOTHER proposed series of restrictive speed bumps has been proposed by Thurrock Council.

It hopes to put in new measures to slow down traffic on East Tilbury Road in Linford and Princess Margaret Road, East Tilbury.

The five sets of speed bumps on East Tilbury Road would be placed on the approach and exit from the junction with Muckingford Road at a space of intervals of 25, 70, 120,. 160 and 250 metres and there would be six sets of strips set at similar distances heading into East Tilbury towards the rail crossing.

The full plans for the speed scheme can be viewed here. and here.

The council says the installation of the speed bumps is 'temporary' but gives no detail as to how long they will be in place.

Anyone who wishes to comment can do so via email to [email protected] or in writing to the Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL by no later than 23 October.

There have been a raft of recent proposals to change traffic regulation ss in the East Tilbury area, not least a traffic regulation order that starts tomorrow (Thursday, 1 October) allowing the closure of Muckingford Road, between its junctions with Beechcroft Avenue and Blue Anchor Lane, for an unspecified number of days between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

The alternative route for eastbound vehicles is Linford Road, Chadwell Hill, Marshfoot Road, A1089, A13 eastbound, Orsett Cock Roundabout, Stanford Road, Buckingham Hill Road, East Tilbury Road and Princess Margaret Road and vice versa for westbound vehicles.

The purpose of the work is to allow utilities surveys, says the council.

And the council also plans to implement a number of no waiting areas in East Tilbury.

The proposed changes are:

i. on the northeast side of East Tilbury Road, from a point 15m southeast of the southern kerb line of Hampshire Gardens in a northwest direction for a distance of 43m

ii. on the southwest side of East Tilbury Road, from a point 15m northwest of the northern kerb line of Hampshire Gardens in a northwest direction for a distance of 34.5m

iii. at the junction of Brindle Closes and Beechroft Avenue

iv. at the junction of Princess Margaret Road and Bata Mews

v. at the junction of Princess Margaret Road and north access to Thames Industrial Park

Existing no waiting restrictions existing waiting restriction Mon-Sat 7am-6pm at the junction of Princess Margaret Road and Bata Mews and at the junction of Princess Margaret Road and north access to Thames Industrial Park will be revoked.
