JUST ten months after launching, Thurrock Nub News reached a memorable milestone in its early history this evening (Monday, 5 October) when it achieved its two millionth page view!

Launched in late November last year with a brief to support and promote the borough community, Nub News in Thurrock has mirrored the success of sister sites across the country as the Nub News concept continues to grow.

Our local milestone came on the same day that Nub News' 50th site was launched serving Bridport in Dorset and the independent news service now boasts sites across England and Wales from the south west coast of Devon and Cornwall, into both north and south Wales and across the country to the shores of north Essex and as far north as Crewe, with a plethora of sites in the Midlands and a growing number in London.

Nub News targets communities which have been neglected by existing news providers and staffed by locally-placed journalists concentrating on local issues and local people.

The company's founder and CEO Karl Hancock says: "We provide all the staples of a good local newspaper. That includes local news, community news, what's on, local business listings, classifieds, jobs, property and obituaries.

"It's a pleasant read with no annoying ads, pop-ups or surveys. I'm absolutely delighted that on the same day we've reached our 50th online newspaper in Dorset in Thurrock we have achieved this remarkable milestone of 2,000,000 page views."

Thurrock Nub News editor Neil Speight added: "It's been a remarkable journey in Thurrock over such a short space of time and I am delighted to say that later this week we will be announcing a major tie in with one of Thurrock's major companies who will be sponsoring our site and helping us further improve our grassroots coverage of our local community.

"The past year has been extremely challenging, but Thurrock Nub News has passed the test and we will continue to bring the borough local, impartial and important news coverage and offer support to businesses and organisations in Thurrock. I am confident there are many more landmark statistics to come."
