IN the latest monthly contribution from Thurrock Camera Club, Nub News readers are given advice about composition by experts from the club, which is moving ever closer to its centenary celebrations which will start in September.

In this month's tip we offer some ideas to help readers capture and or improve landscape images.

APPRENTICESHIPS are on offer at the Port of Tilbury.

A statement from Fort Ports, operator of the port, says: "We are looking for enthusiastic, ambitious people who wish to undertake high quality training on a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment whilst gaining real work experiences across all of our operating assets.

"ATTITUDES are changing" says a woman police officer who has spoken about what life is like on the front line as a Romani Gypsy police officer.

It's currently Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) History Month and Essex Police has shown its support by raising the community's flag at our Chelmsford headquarters.

THURROCK Camera Club, which is rapidly approaching the celebration of its centenary, has just held its final competition of this season.

This was the inaugural triptych competition in honour of one of the club's committee members, Chas Taag, who passed away suddenly just prior to Christmas last year.

THIS week is National Neighbourhood Watch Week and the county's Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Roger Hirst, has praised to all its members in Essex and thanked them for their for their sterling work.

Mr Hirst said: "Neighbourhood Watch do a very important job in communities throughout Essex. Working with the police they help provide intelligence to officers, support the elderly and vulnerable and go out of their way to make their local area safer.

IN our latest update from Thurrock Camera Club we can report that the club has announced three winners in its annual competition for Projected Digital Image of the year for the respective Leagues.

The winners are: League 1: Chas Tagg - Black on White

TACKLING an artistic challenge has been part of the build-up to a landmark event later this year which will link Lowestoft with Tilbury – and all the coast in between.

The challenge is being met by Purfleet-based Kinetika, an internationally renowned company specialising in creating large-scale hand-painted silks.

FROM April 2021, foster carers in Thurrock who foster with Thurrock Council will be exempt from paying any Council Tax – a saving of £1,600 a year for the average band D property.

This new benefit has been championed by Thurrock Council and is available to Thurrock foster carers, as an enhanced offer to recognise the love and care they provide to Thurrock children.
