THIS week is National Neighbourhood Watch Week and the county's Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Roger Hirst, has praised to all its members in Essex and thanked them for their for their sterling work.

Mr Hirst said: "Neighbourhood Watch do a very important job in communities throughout Essex. Working with the police they help provide intelligence to officers, support the elderly and vulnerable and go out of their way to make their local area safer.

Fostering brings its rewards

FROM April 2021, foster carers in Thurrock who foster with Thurrock Council will be exempt from paying any Council Tax – a saving of £1,600 a year for the average band D property.

This new benefit has been championed by Thurrock Council and is available to Thurrock foster carers, as an enhanced offer to recognise the love and care they provide to Thurrock children.
