MORE than 150 jobs are expected to be created when online sakes company Amazon opens a new delivery station in West Thurrock.

The site is expected to create 50 permanent jobs and more than 100 driver roles when it opens later this year.

It will serve people living in Thurrock and is going to speed up the company's delivery and seller services.

"Delivery stations power the last mile of our order process and help speed up deliveries for customers," said a spokesperson for Amazon.

"Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighbouring Amazon fulfilment and sortation centres, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers."

The 10,000 square metre building will be based at Proxima 111 in Central Avenue.

Kerry-Anne Lawlor, country director for Amazon Logistics, said: "We are excited to continue to invest in the Thurrock area with a new delivery station that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and create new jobs for the talented workforce."
