By Neil Speight 6th Dec 2019

MORE details of a huge new theme park opposite Thurrock have been revealed.

The London Resort theme park is to be built on the Swanscombe Peninsula opposite Grays and it is expected to draw many employees from the borough.

There have also been talk of a link, including a new tram system or ferry, to link both sides of the river.

The concept park has partnerships with Paramount Pictures, the BBC and ITV studios and will open in five years time.

It is set to feature six islands across the 535 acre site and construction will begin in 2021.

New pictures reveal what the "next generation" rides will look like.

It has been hailed as one of Europe's most ambitious theme park projects ever, the first site of its kind on the continent since Disney Land Paris opened in 1992.

The Resort will eventually become two parks, with the first one opening in 2024, followed by the second in 2029.

Current plans expect 70 per cent of attractions will be under cover.

Hotel guests and visitors are welcomed via a grand plaza, before reaching a High Street featuring restaurants, shops, hotels, a convention centre and a waterpark.

Then, visitors have the option of visiting The Studios, a gritty, modern-day warehouse district that will be showing big blockbusters.

Further north, The Woods are a mystical area where it remains springtime all year and fantasy abounds.

The journey continues through the ages into The Kingdom, an immersive realm of swords, sorcery, dragons and legend.

North of the Kingdom lies The Isles, where mythical beasts, giant creatures roam the land of adventure.

The Jungle is another area for visitors to explore, featuring a mysterious long-lost Mesoamerican civilisation pushing up through the treetops.

The final land is dedicated to 23rd century experiences, alien encounters and big thrill rides.

The Star Port will launch visitors into thrilling sci-fi adventures that are out of this world.

PY Gerbeau, chief executive of London Resort Company Holdings said: "We are creating a first-class theme park.

"A destination that maximises all the new, immersive and interactive technologies and experiences in the world.

"But we won't just be creating a world class leisure destination, it will also be one of the most sustainable theme parks on the planet."
