THE Thurrock Carers charity was the recipient of a donation of £2,500 today (Wednesday, 29 January) from a 'The CARE Badge', a community interest company that was launched last year to raise the profile of the great work being done in the care sector.
The badge was created to recognise the 9m people both paid and unpaid delivering care in the UK and to celebrate the wonderful work being done.
The CARE badge is a unifying symbol of pride and quality in care and launched at the end of June 2019 at The Residential & Home Care Show at ExCel London and only a few days later was being worn by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, The Rt Hon Matt Hancock.
The badge generates a small amount of profit from the sales which they are able to put back into the care community. There are now almost 100,000 badges in circulation. Charities are nominated to receive the profits and Thurrock Carers was one of the nominees.
"We were delighted to see the wonderful work that the Thurrock carers service are doing and so pleased that they were selected to receive this donation.
"We look forward to seeing what wonderful projects this money will contribute to" said Anoushka Farouk, Board Member of The CARE badge.
