THURROCK can now officially boast one of the best sausage-makers in the country.

Reeds family Butchers were finalists in two categories, and emerged triumphant in one, in the UK Sausage Week competition held today (Monday, 26 October) at the Butchers' Hall in London.

The event marked the start of UK Sausage week and the Best Chicken Banger crown was collected by the firm's principal Will Reed.

He said: "We're delighted to be bringing the title home to Corringham. What an absolutely fantastic day!

"We didn't take the Lincolnshire title this time, but we're still incredibly proud to have made the final with those too. Two finals and a national winner — how about that?!

"Getting to share this moment with my beautiful wife Gina and my mum and dad made it even more special. A day I'll never forget.
