Lonely and vulnerable folk who are part of the Re-engage network enjoyed a VE Day tea party hosted by Sam Kahn and her volunteers from the National Autistic Society of Thurrock.
Local Re-engage co-ordinator Loraine Coleman said: "A very big thank you to you all. What a wonderful afternoon we all had. All tea party guests and volunteer drivers enjoyed a delicious tea and were waited on and really spoilt.
"We celebrated our lovely Gwen's 98th birthday and were entertained by our Angie with sing-along dancing songs. There was so much happiness in the room.
"A very big thank you to Angie and Rog who volunteered their time to entertain us and to Julia from Stifford Clays Working Mens Club who let Re-engagey have the hall for free.
"Last but not least a very bigThank you to our wonderful, dedicated, caring volunteers who without them driving guests to these events they would not be possible. How wonderful it is to be back enjoying the loveliness of these tea parties seeing so many happy, smiling faces and everyone went home with a lovely Lindt chocolate bunny donated by one of our volunteer's husband."
