STORE staff in Corringham town centre were elvishly clever today (Friday, 2 December) as they donned costumes and collected cash from customers for a great causes.

It has now become an annual event for shops in the town to back the fundraising appeal initiated by staff at the Betty's Bits n Bob's general store.

Staff dress up as elves and rattle collecting boxes in the shops and on the street.

The money raised goes to Alzheimer's and dementia charities and by late afternoon almost £600 had been collected and the tally is expected to rise.
