TRAFFIC on the A13 westbound near the BP services was brought to a halt while emergency services dealt with an incident near the BP services this morning (Tuesday, 28 July).

The incident happened just before 9.30am and in its wake, traffic backed up for several miles along the A13.

At 10.13am a statement from Essex Fire and Rescue Service read: "Report of a car fire on the side of the road. No reported injuries. Crews arrived, shut the A13 to keep the scene safe, and are still at the scene extinguishing the fire."

Essex Police reported both lanes were reopen just after 10am.
