"Crews are assisting on-site firefighting teams to safely extinguish the fire.
"Time of call: 07:12pm.
"Attendance: 6 x fire engines, 1 x foam unit, 1 x water bowser."
Cargo ships loading scrap at the docks have occasionally experience in-hold fires (such as a 5,000-tonne scrap metal fire in December 2023, reported on Thurrock Nub News.
It was later confirmed the site of the fire was the berth used by EMR. The site has been the scene of previous fires, including a major blaze in 2024.
