AN overturned articulated lorry has blocked the A13 on the westbound carriageway just past the North Stifford interchange.

The accident happened just after 7am today (Sunday, 4 October).

A statement from Essex Police says : "We were contacted just after 7.15am with reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a lorry and a black Mercedes on the A13 at North Stifford just past its junction with the A1012. The lorry ended up on its side. There are no serious injuries and officers on the scene are turning the traffic caught in the tailback around. The lorry is likely to be there for some time."

London-bound traffic is being diverted from the interchange. Vehicles caught behind the accident are slowly being released by being allowed to turn around and travel back down the carriageway to leave the A13 at the interchange in a police-controlled operation.
