FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire earlier today in a flat in East Tilbury today (Tuesday, 28 April).

A working smoke alarm alerted the resident, giving them time to get out.

A spokesperson for Essex Fire and rescue said: "The fire is believed to have started from a printer that had been left switched on and overheated.

"Heat from the fire caused nearby aerosol cans to burst, leading to further damage."

Fire fighters from Orsett, Corringham and Basildon attended the incident at just after 10am when the an emergency call was made after a fire alarm in the flat went off.
