Two children taken to hospital after Grays pedestrian crossing collision

TWO children were taken to hospital after a collision with a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing in the centre of Grays this afternoon (Tuesday, 28 April).

The incident happened on the crossing adjacent to the town war memorial at the junction of High Street and Orsett Road.

A statement from East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances were sent to Orsett Road in Grays this afternoon following reports of two pedestrians injured in a road traffic collision.

"Two children were transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and care."

Police closed the road in the aftermath of the collision, which happened at about 3.50pm.

A spokesperson said: "The two pedestrians, a 10-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl, were left in the care of the ambulance service."
