THE Essex Air Ambulance airlifted a woman to the Royal London Hospital on East Tilbury Road at Linford this morning (Wednesday, 8 June).

The helicopter landed on Linford recreation ground to assist at an incident reported to be an accident involving a car and a lorry.

It was described as a 'serious collision' by Police who issued the following statement: "Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam or doorbell footage to get in touch.

"If you have any information, you can submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk. Please quote incident 414 of June 8.

"You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The road was closed during the recovery operation and through the afternoon while police carried out forensic examinations of the scene.

At 4pm it was reported there were extensive traffic delays with vehicles queuing as far back as Chadwell St Mary on Muckingford Road.
