Air pollution levels drop as traffic stays off the roads

ONE beneficial aspect of the coronaviris lockdown in Thurrock has been a significant improvement in air quality.

Last year the average daily nitrogen dioxide emissions content of sampled air in the borough was 27.85714 - one the the highest levels across the country.

Now Thurrock Nub News has had access to figures recorded in the last fortnight since lockdown began and they show a 30 per cent drop to 19.5

Nitrogen dioxide, released from car exhausts, is a serious air pollutant.

Last year we reported on a commitment by Thurrock's environmental portfolio to look at ways of tackling the piollution problems in Thurrock.
